All successful network-marketing professionals set goals. As Tony Robins says “Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”
The thought process and the act of setting your goals is the beginning of taking each goal or idea and making it real. Many people go into business with a vague idea of what they want to achieve and where they want to see themselves in 6 months, or a year or 5 years down the road. But if you cannot translate those ideas into specific and measurable goals, you’ll never get there.
Goals are the bridge between you right now and where you want to get to. Having specific and measurable goals enables you to make smart decisions in your network marketing business (or any other area of your life for that matter).
Here are some things you can do to keep you on track with your goals.
Write Down Your Goals
Your goals must be written. A goal that isn’t written down is just a thought. Thoughts disappear faster than anything. That’s the first step. But it’s not enough to just write what you are going to do. You also have to write down what you are going to give up in order to achieve those goals.
For example, you may have a health and fitness goal for yourself. Perhaps that’s why you signed up with QNet in the first place. You liked products such as the Nutriplus Protein Power or Nutriplus Bonehealth, which can help you eat healthier or build stronger bones.
If you are looking to lose weight, you need to write down specifically what you want to achieve.
General Goal – Lose weight this year.
Specific Goal – Lose 10 Kilos in the next 6 months.
Now that you have a specific goal, you can create an actionable plan to get to it.
– Write down a meal plan
– Identify an exercise routine you are comfortable with
– Identify the things that will prevent you from reaching the goal and give them up, i.e, sugar, sweets, pizzas, fried foods etc.
Prepare a Vision Board
When you have a daily visual reminder of your goals, you will find the motivation to keep going. What are some of the tangible things you are working towards? If you are working towards saving up for a dream vacation, then paste pictures of the destination and the various activities you imagine yourself doing on that vacation on your Vision Board. Are you working towards building a beautiful home for your family? Save pictures of the dream home you want on the home screen of your smartphone or tablet. Each time you pick it up, it will remind you of your purpose.
When you visualize something and focus on it daily, it will increase your belief, and it will keep you committed. What you keep before your eyes will affect you. You will produce what you are continually seeing in your mind. If you foster an image of defeat and failure, then you are going to live that kind of life. But if you develop an image of victory, success, health, abundance, joy, peace, and happiness, nothing on earth will be able to hold those things from you.
Have an Accountability Partner
One of the keys to achieving a goal is to share it with someone you trust and respect. It could be your spouse; it could be your upline. It could be a coach or mentor. Choose someone in the same business who is committed to remaining positive, who’s collaborative, and who’s working toward something similar. This person doesn’t have to be part of your team.
Set a weekly talk time to inspire one another and share best practices, and celebrate successes! Social integration is powerful. Processing with positive people allows you to discuss and apply what you’re learning. Find your accountability partner right away and start goal setting today!
Track Your Progress
Even if you are doing everything right, if you are not periodically checking in to make sure you are on track, chances are you will go off course.
When you measure your progress you can see how you’re coming along, and this is a powerful motivator to help you stick with it. If you are making good progress, your confidence grows along with your motivation. When you measure your progress, it gives you a realistic picture of the situation. If you are not making the desired progress, you are able to see this before you fall too far behind. You can then identify the changes that need to be made and implement them.
As mentioned above, for your long-term goals, you will need an actionable plan. A plan allows you to break each goal down into sub-goals and milestones, which can then be placed in a timeframe. The timeframe then allows you to measure your progress. Keeping a record of your progress, as you go along, accompanied by some personal notes, will give you something to refer to, should a problem arise. If you fail to meet your targets, you need to know why this occurred so that you can decide the best course of action.
