Becoming a millionaire today is much more of an achievable dream for many than it was a few years ago. But by no means is it an easy task. Many work their whole lives and never reach the coveted millionaire status. And then there are those who have managed to achieve that kind of wealth before they turn 30!
Many of the new millionaires of today often share a few common traits. Here are the top 5 lessons you can learn from smart millionaires.
1- Don’t worry what others think
Drop the need to be liked if you want an extraordinary life. People who care what others think of them will always be limited to others opinions. Those who’ve made it take very few opinions and are mentally tough.
When you pursue greatness don’t expect others to support you, because you’ll represent the courage, strength, and vision they don’t yet have. Steve Jobs famously said, “Your time is limited so don’t waste it living somebody else’s life.”
2- Maximise Your Strength
We are taught all our lives to learn to work on our weaknesses. Successful millionaires focus 100 per cent on developing their best skills and honing their strengths. You’ll never get wealthy focusing on things you aren’t good at. Find someone to partner with who can complement your weakness. Build a team to work with you on areas you are not good at. That allows you to focus on what you can become best at. Once you master it, you will start producing results.
3- Never Trade Time for Money
Time is money, and while the traditional method of trading your time for a proportional payment will earn you a decent salary, it won’t make you a millionaire.
One of the reasons entrepreneurship, network marketing, direct sales and internet businesses are growing exponentially is because of the endless possibilities they offer. It’s not easy, and it takes risk but you must see past the risk and focus on the rewards. Focus on the power of leverage and how to create consistent income without trading time for money.
4- Develop a Sense of Urgency
If you are serious about success, you must have a sense of urgency. You must realise that NOW matters more than any other time. Know the true value of time— snatch, seize, and use every opportunity to reach for your goals. Opportunities don’t last forever and they are only opportunities if you are taking full advantage of them.
Young millionaires become successful early in life because they constantly work toward success instead of waiting for opportunities to come to them.
5- Find a Strong Mentor
Millionaires don’t reach that status alone, and even self-made millionaires find smart, wise mentors to guide them as they build their careers. Learning from those who came before you is key to making the right business decisions, and a good mentor will challenge you and help you focus on bigger thinking.
Smart millionaires know that it’s impossible to grow, learn, and become the person you need to be to reach the million mark, without an exceptional team behind you. Success rises and falls on who you associate with so make sure you surround yourself with the right people.
