The last season was one of the most successful seasons for the citizens. They were the firm favourites even before the mid-way point of the campaign.
The season began with uncertainties. Covid restrictions meant that teams were to play football behind closed doors with no fans. With irregular playing conditions, many clubs endured challenges during this period.
Manchester City was one of those clubs experiencing a tough run of games during the start of the campaign. But, City rose back with a fighting spirit and went on a roll to win 21 consecutive games during the winter period, breaking the record for the most number of consecutive wins in the top-flight. While most teams continued to struggle, City continued marching on towards the premier league trophy. Their remarkable winning streak also saw them register the most number of consecutive wins at the start of the calendar.
The result was a sensational campaign, with Manchester City lifting the title for the third time in the last four years. A remarkable feat considering the tough playing circumstances during the pandemic.
Now, it’s a new season. The fans are back in the stadium, and the Citizens are ready for the Premier League action. But can City win the premier league again?
