Every country has its own peculiar ancient beauty secret, some of which seem quite bizarre in the modern world. In ancient Egypt, Cleopatra supposedly bathed in donkey’s milk, French queen Marie Antoinette was known to wear gloves every night that were lined with wax, rose water and sweet almond oil to soften her hands. Legend has it that ancient Greeks were all about using crocodile dung in their facial and body treatments! And the women of the Berber tribe in Morocco have been using Argan Oil to beautify their skin, hair and nails for centuries.
That’s one beauty regimen that has survived the ages and continues to be used till today by not just Moroccan women, but by men and women all over the world seeking an effective, all natural moisturizer for skin and hair.
Argan oil is produced from the kernels of the rare and ancient Moroccan Argan tree (Argania Spinosa), commonly known as the ‘Tree of Life’, found sparsely amidst the Berber villages of rustic Southern Morocco.
Local Berber women work in fair-trade cooperatives where they hand-crack the argan nuts in between two stones, a technique they’ve used for centuries. Instead of being put through a machine, the raw Argan kernels are hand-extracted from the hard shell, hand-ground in a stone grinder, hand-kneaded for hours and first cold-pressed into the oil. It takes one woman three days to make just one liter of oil. That’s what makes Argan oil so valuable.
It is rich in Vitamin E, Phenols and Phenolic Antioxidants, Carotenes, Squalene and Essential Fatty Acids. It is also rich in rare plant sterols that are not found in any other plant oils. These properties make it an excellent and valuable skin care product for both men and women alike.
QNet’s Argan Care brings the same goodness and purity of the Moroccan Argan Oil directly from its source in Morocco exclusively for our customers in India.
Here are our Top 5 favorite uses of Argan Care that you can incorporate into your life:
1. Face Moisturizer
After cleansing morning and/or night, massage a few drops of Argan Care directly onto your face and neck. It absorbs quickly and is not greasy. If you want to use it as a serum, apply your night cream after the oil absorbs into the skin.
2. Facial Glow
Add a drop or two of Argan Care to your foundation, bronzer or tinted moisturizer for a dewy, luminous glow.
3. Cuticle and Heel Softener
Massage a few drops of Argan Care into your cuticles to soften, moisturize and encourage nail growth. If you have dry cracking skin on your feet or heels, rub 2 drops into your feet, paying special attention to the problem areas. Cover with a pair of cozy socks to give the oil a chance to soak in. Leave the socks on for at least 20 minutes, and preferably overnight. You’ll notice the difference in just a few weeks.
4. Leave in Conditioner and Hair Styling
Argan Care is also great for hair. This non-greasy oil makes for the perfect leave-in conditioner that makes your hair easier to style while repairing those pesky split ends! Take 4-5 drops of Argan Care and work through damp hair. Style as usual.
For dry hair, use Argan Care to tame frizz and fly-aways, protect against the heat of hair dryers, curlers and flat irons, all the while promoting body, and a healthy shine.
5. Exfoliating lip scrub and moisturizer
Argan Care also makes for a wonderful lip treatment or chapstick substitute! To smooth and moisturize your lips, add a few drops of Argan Care and vanilla extract to fine brown sugar. Lightly massage into lips using circular motion and rinse off. This will not only heal any cracked lips, but also keep your lips soft, smooth and conditioned.
