QNET India – Lions Clubs sponsor paralympic champion Sandesha B.G

Come October, it’s time to go full swing with muscles flexing and an extra flow of Adrenaline. QNET and Lions Clubs are sponsoring  Sandesha B.G. from India, a well-known personality in Para Athletic circuit for the upcoming 31st World Arm Wrestling Championship 2018. The championship is scheduled to take place at Antalya, Turkey from October 13 – 22.  One thousand five hundred (1500) competitors across 45 countries are locking their hands in the competition, which will witness not just brutal rivalry and strategy and moves and counter-moves, wanting to rip each other’s arms off at the table – at the end it’s a warm embrace.

Arm wrestling is not merely a part-time job for Sandesha, who is traveling to the Antalya, just like many more athletes from various countries hailing from a wide range of backgrounds. Self-motivated and powered with enormous positivity and determination to be right on the top!

Sandesha B.G. has won many awards in Para Athletic Championships including wheelchair tennis, discuss throw, arm wrestling to name a few. Karnataka Government awarded him with the prestigious title of “Nadaprabhu Kempegowda”   for all his achievements over the years. Currently serving as Hon. Secretary of Karnataka Wheelchair Tennis Association, few of his noteworthy achievements include:

2016: Represented Karnataka and won 2 Gold medal in Wheelchair Race 200m and 400m and 1 Bronze medal in Discus throw event & 4th place in Shot put throw event men T54/F55 Category in the “16th SENIOR NATIONAL PARA ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP 2016” Panchkula, Haryana

2015: Representing Karnataka, won Bronze medal in Discus throw event & 4th place in Shot put throw event men F-55 Category in the “15th NATIONAL PARA ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP 2015” Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh

2014: Honoured with“ Nadaprabhu Kempegowda” Award by Karnataka State Government

2013: First place in Shot put throw and 2nd place in Discuss throw at 7th National Games for the Disabled at Chennai

2012: Gold medal in Shot put and Discus throw and Bronze medal in Javelin under men F54 class in Para Athletics National Championship

2011: Silver medal in Shot put under F54 class 1st Sharjah International Open Athletics Championship on 4th and 5th April 2011, at Sharjah, UAE

2011: First place in 100M Wheelchair Race in State level sports meet for the Specially Abled

2010: Bronze medal International level Shot put competition in 2nd Fazaa International Athletics Competitions in Dubai

2010: Gold medal in Discuss through competition in South Zone Sports Meet for physically Challenged in Mysore

2009: Gold medal Winner in Sitting volley ball at Bengaluru

2009: Gold medal Winner in Sitting volley ball  at Madurai.

2007: Second place in shot put event in World Disabled Day 2007, at Bengaluru.

2006: 3rd place in shot put computation in 8th senior National Paralympic Athletics meet

2006: 1st place in Zonal Body Building Championship, at Sagar

2005: Won the third prize in the Shot put competition (7th senior and 2nd junior National Level Paralympic  athletics) at Coimbatore

2005: Won the First prize in the Shot put competition (south zone) held in Mysore

2005: Silver medal in Shimoga District body Building competition, in Bhadravathi

 2004: First place in shot put event in World Disabled Day 2004, 3rd Dec, Shimoga

Few para-sports events, QNET has sponsored in India are

  • Chetan Korada, an Indian racing driver who holds the distinction of being the first ever driver in the world to win a race using synthetic feet from 2016 till date
  • National Para Badminton Championship held in December 2015 in Bangalore. The Championship showcased the strength, skills and the indomitable sportsman spirit of the para athletes
