QNET-Manchester City partnership in 2014: The beginning of a special partnership 

QNET’s partnership with Manchester City was one of the most anticipated and high-profile sports sponsorships, as it was the beginning of something special. QNET was proud to embark upon a journey to support City all the way, along with various successful collaborations.

In 2014, Manchester City were runners-up in the Premier League, with the club’s legendary striker Sergio Aguero notching up the Football Supporters Federation Player of the Year award and the Golden Boot award with 26 goals. City’s goalkeeper in 2014, Joe Hart, won the Golden glove award with 14 clean sheets. Yaya Toure also won the CAF Player of the Year award in 2014.

In 2015, QNET was the host of viewing events in the Etihad Stadium, celebrating a game-changing phase. It was the first time the stadium displayed the QNET logo, with select members of the Achievers’ Club getting to witness it first-hand. It was an exciting moment for the QNET family.

Manchester City won the English League Cup in 2015 by beating Liverpool, 3-1 on penalties after extra time in the finals. The first trophy since the QNET-Manchester City partnership. Manchester City would go on to dominate the tournament, winning it four more times in the coming years.

Pep Guardiola is one of the most successful managers of this century. He is famous for his astute tactics and managerial brilliance, winning titles at Barcelona and Bayern Munich before joining City.

QNET congratulates Manchester City for an incredible season in 2017-2018

Pep Guardiola made a significant impact on the club, as Manchester City had one of the most successful campaigns, winning the Premier League and the League Cup.

It was a year in which City broke multiple records, including –

  • New Premier League records for most points – 100 points
  • Most goals scored – 106 goals
  • Total wins achieved in a single season – 32 out of 38 games
  • Largest winning margin – 19 points
  • Largest goal difference – (+79) GD
  • Most away games won in a season – 16 games
  • Most away points won in a season – 50 points
  • Equalling the Premier League record for consecutive away league wins – 11 games

They further went on to set new club records for consecutive games unbeaten in all competitions (28 games); Consecutive games unbeaten in the league (30 games), and consecutive home wins in all competitions (20 games) with the fewest goals conceded in a season.

Sergio Aguero continued his prolific form, scoring his 178th goal to become the all-time leading goal scorer. Leroy Sane won the PFA Young Player of the season. Also, City’s manager Pep Guardiola won his first Premier League Manager of the season award.

It was yet another fruitful year, as QNET-Manchester City conducted a football clinic in Indonesia for the underprivileged youth from the ‘Rusun’ (community flats). The coaches from the City Football School trained the youth on various football techniques and drills in the clinic. They went on to demonstrate how to play like a ‘City’ player.

Overall, it was a successful year for both QNET and Manchester City, as the partnership continues to impact people across the globe.

Partnership with Manchester City Women’s team and domestic glory for the Citizens in 2018/2019

Manchester City carried the momentum into the new season with a title-winning campaign. They were successful in edging out Liverpool for a second consecutive title under Pep Guardiola. He also won the Premier League Manager of the year for the second time running.

Club stalwart, Raheem Sterling, won the PFA Young Player of the Year and FWA Player of the year awards.

Manchester City also lifted the League cup, winning 4-3 on penalties against Chelsea after a goalless draw in the finals. Furthermore, City went on to win the FA Cup with a thumping 6-0 win against Watford in the final to complete the domestic treble.

QNET’s Partnership with Manchester City Women’s Football Club

City’s success on the field continues to inspire us. With the growing relationship, QNET was proud to extend the partnership with Manchester City Women’s team as the first sleeve sponsor. It was a ground-breaking partnership and an important statement about QNET’s commitment to provide women and girls around the globe the same access and opportunities as men. It was the perfect way to commemorate 20 years in the direct selling industry.

To further celebrate the successful partnership, QNET and Man City empowered 20 underprivileged children worldwide. They were given a lifetime opportunity to attend a two-week-long camp at the City Football Language School.

The children got the opportunity of attending English Language lessons curated by the British Study Centre’s language teachers. In addition, they would also receive training sessions led by expert coaches at Manchester City’s Etihad campus.

In 2019, QNET was proud to extend its partnership with City for five more years. The partnership was a consolidation of the commitment to provide City-led football clinics to communities around the world. In addition, an opportunity to continue engaging with consumers and distributors through the successful relationship with City.

Senior vice president of partnerships for City Football Group, Damian Willoughby, commented: “We are delighted to announce that QNET has become the latest partner to extend its relationship with Manchester City in a new long-term deal that will see us celebrate ten years of working together.

“This partnership made history when QNET became the first sleeve partner in the Women’s Super League, and we are excited to embark on another chapter together.” The partnership extension went on to deepen the QNET and Man City relationships.

Manchester City continued to enjoy a successful season as they notched up a domestic double by winning the FA Community Shield and the League cup in the same year. City made it 3 in a row by beating Aston Villa 2-1 in the finals of the League Cup.

They were on course to defend their title when football matches came to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under difficult circumstances and injuries to important players, City finished second on the table. Even during these times, City players continued to provide scintillating performances.

A triumphant 2020-2021 Season 

The 2020-2021 season began during an uncertain period, as matches were conducted behind closed doors without fans. Manchester City was enduring a tough start to the campaign but quickly turned the tides.

Manchester City went on to have one of the most successful runs during the winter period. They won 21 consecutive wins, breaking the record for the most consecutive wins in the top-flight. While most teams continued to struggle, City continued marching on towards the Premier League trophy.

The result was a sensational campaign, with Manchester City achieving the remarkable feat of lifting the title for the third time in the last four years.

Manchester City were crowned the Premier League Champions in 2020-2021

Outstanding performances by Kevin De Bruyne won him the PFA Player of the Year award. Phil Foden won PFA Young Player of the Year. Star defender Ruben Dias won the Premier League Player of the Year and FWA Player of the Season awards.

The League cup triumph further added to the success of the Premier League as they lifted the trophy for the 4th consecutive season. Manchester City beat Tottenham Hotspur in the final with a resolute performance from City players.

Furthermore, Manchester City was a whisker away from winning the coveted UEFA Champions League. However, they were narrowly edged out by Chelsea in the final. A great effort by the Manchester City players.

Overall, it was one of the most successful seasons as City were crowned the Champions of England and QNET applauds their successful journey.

Relentless Manchester City in 2021-2022 Season 

Manchester City has kick-started the campaign in great style with important wins against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. They are currently 2nd on the table behind league leaders Chelsea. As the important winter period approaches, if City can replicate the previous season’s run, they will be the favourites to win the title again.

New signing Jack Grealish has had a great start to the campaign contributing with important goals and assists. Manchester City will depend on him and star players Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus to lead the charge towards domestic and European titles.
